StopTB Canada initiative is part
of a global movement to accelerate social
and political action to stop the
unnecessary spread of tuberculosis around
the world.

Canada pledged to fight infectious
diseases including tuberculosis at the G8 Summit in Japan.
The G8 countries agreed to reduce
the number of people with TB
worldwide by 50% by the year 2010.
When asked if it was not too
ambitious for the G8 to have made
this pledge Prime Minister Chretien
said: ``Yes, it's ambitious. It has
to be ambitious.''
